As the world's largest producer of digitally printed textiles, for application of new technologies and equipment, changes in consumer concepts, and continuous energy saving and environmental protection efforts will accelerate the application of digital technology, achieving sustained growth in digital textile printing. In the future, digital and on-demand printing will become new trends due to the rapid development of e-commerce, with consumers increasingly favoring custom fashion apparel. Digital textile printing will become a new driving force for industry development.

Why is digital textile printing so highly regarded?

Huang Hepeng explained that compared to traditional printing, digital textile printing technology is more competitive in customization: it does not require plate-making, has a shorter proofing time, and is cheaper; it has a lower minimum order quantity; it offers higher precision and better effects; it has a shorter production cycle and faster speed; and it is more intelligent. "Digital textile printing has no restrictions on size, patterns, or colors, truly achieving 'print what you imagine" said Huang. The varied styles of digitally printed towels produced by Bulanren are popular with consumers, further strengthening the company's confidence in developing digital textile printing products.

Nowadays, the advantages of digital textile printing in "small batches and quick response" are more prominent. Its flexible production organization and fewer labor requirements make it less impacted by the pandemic compared to other industries, bringing new growth points and transformation and upgrading opportunities to the printing industry. "Many manufacturers have realized that companies must develop towards intelligence and cannot rely on labor-intensive production. Digital textile printing is becoming increasingly popular because intelligent production has significant advantages over traditional printing, such as unlimited customization, low minimum order quantity, and environmentally friendly production, which requires fewer workers and is widely welcomed," Huang introduced.

"We have been doing digital textile printing for eight or nine years, and it is obvious that now orders are more varied, with smaller minimum order quantities and shorter delivery times," said Zhu Fenyan, head of Shaoxing Keqiao Tianyue Textile Processing Plant. "When we first entered the industry, orders were generally in the thousands or even tens of thousands of meters, but now most are only a few hundred meters." Tianyue Textile mainly engages in digital textile printing for women's wear, children's wear, and home textiles, with a current daily production capacity of nearly 50,000 meters.

Additionally, the intelligent, low-pollution, and low-consumption characteristics of digital textile printing processing align with the clean, efficient, green, low-carbon, and intelligent manufacturing development trends of the textile industry, receiving policy encouragement and support. Policy benefits are one of the main factors driving the rapid development of the digital textile printing market. In recent years, the government has introduced a series of policy measures to promote intelligent manufacturing. Textile powerhouse provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Shandong are vigorously promoting intelligent production in the textile and apparel industry, with textile digital inkjet printing being an important area. Zhejiang Province, as the most concentrated region for global textile printing and dyeing, issued the "Guiding Opinions on Green Access for Textile Printing and Dyeing (Digital Inkjet Printing) in Zhejiang Province (Trial)" in 2021, clearly supporting local dyeing enterprises in their transformation and upgrading towards digital textile printing.

Since the beginning of this year, Suzhou Shengze Town in Jiangsu Province has targeted digital textile printing as a high quality, high efficiency, low energy, and environmentally friendly industry development direction. In collaboration with Hangzhou Honghua Digital Technology Co., Ltd. (ATEXCO) and Yuncheng Plate Making Group, it has planned the construction of a digital textile printing industrial park, including technology research and development centers, design centers, color management centers, and intelligent manufacturing centers, attracting professionals in automation, software development, color management, and fashion design. The park aims to build fully automatic clean digital inkjet technology production lines and automated printing processing production lines, helping Shengze to become a leading domestic digital textile printing industry demonstration project, gathering various advantageous resources to create a high-end digital textile printing industry benchmark.

Previously, with technological advancements, improved production efficiency, and lower ink prices following domestic substitution, the cost of digital textile printing in China has been continuously decreasing, enhancing its market competitiveness. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the localization of inkjet print heads is listed as a key research focus. Once inkjet print heads are localized, it will greatly promote the widespread adoption of digital textile printing technology.
